Wanderlust Series - Middle East

I am a wanderlust at heart and will always jump on any opportunity to travel.  I love meeting new people, learning about different cultures/customs and most importantly, capturing each and every beautiful landmark as much as the eyes can take in.

During this trip to the Middle East, it was exciting and daunting at the same time.   The political unrest between Israel and Egypt played a big part in our travel safety.  And certain landmarks were so vast and barren I felt like I was going back in time, especially for me since I grew up in New York City.  I got the chance to visit Israel, Egypt and Jordan.  It's a landmark of history, especially biblical history - I learned so much during this trip.  It was definitely an unforgettable experience.

Nail Art

I've been getting into nail art recently.  And my in-house nail salon has finally come together!

Dreamy State of Mind

A photo I took near the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts when I lived in San Francisco.  I remember seeing this little girl and her brother gleefully trailing behind their mom and I thought to myself what a beautiful scene, so I followed them and took this photo.  It reminds me of a modern day Alice in Wonderland.  Maybe because of the colors of what the little girl is wearing, the afternoon light and the swirly path but most of all, it reminds me of a precious childhood moment captured in a dreamy state of mind.

Burgues Font

Here's a holiday postcard I designed for a church organization.  I'm so in love with the Burgues font right now.  One of the best script fonts ever!

Right VS Left Brained People?

This fun little test is going around FB to see which side of the brain we lean more towards.  Here's my results:  72% right brain and 28% left brain.  I wonder what's the percentage of right and left brain in the AD/CW industry.  And why are they congratulating me as a right brainer?  Would they say "I'm sorry" if my results turned out to be left brain instead?  It's also apparent that this person who wrote the test is also a right brainer since he's not much of a detailed orient person.  I know by the way he double checked his spelling "yor are right brained".  My peeps.  Anyway, what's your score?

Humans and Computers

If you haven't watched this short film yet, I would highly recommend it.  The entire film shows how human interactions are solely based around a 15" monitor screen like most of today.  It does a great job depicting how people's behavior and communication is transformed through modern technology.  We can hide our real emotions and feelings behind enclosed walls.  I can't help but to think the very thing that is innovative in helping people get together is actually the very same thing in causing people to turn away from each other.

Handwriting Analysis

Little did I know you can learn so much about a person through their penmanship.   According to my handwriting sample, "I am a logical, determined, stubborn, and enthusiastic creative.  A type of person that starts either a company or a revolution."  What does your handwriting say about your personality?

Fashion Portrait Photography

Earlier the week I was going through some old photos, and I found a few that I took when I first embarked in taking editorial-like photography.  I have a fascination with models, beauty, make-up and editorial shoots.   Below are two former coworkers of mine, and a classmate that I've asked to model for me.  Although they are not professionals, they sure are naturals!

Writer Turned Artist

I've always enjoyed writing but I was never really great at it.  However, it always gave me a voice, an outlet, to anchor my thoughts.  After college, I found a passion in photography, especially in advertising photography and recently engagement/wedding photography.  Although I stopped writing, I'd like to pick up the habit again.  I decided to start this blog as a way to share the combination of my learnings from today's ever evolving world in art + technology and also to document my continuous journey as a growing artist and photographer.
